Senior Vice President and Aetna Chief Medical Officer at CVS Health
Dr. Rhee is the Senior Vice President and Aetna Chief Medical Officer at CVS Health. He and his team lead the integration and delivery of clinical and population health solutions. He is passionate and grateful to work for a health care innovation company with a simple and clear purpose: “to help people on their path to better health” from the community to the home to the palm of their hand.
Rhee also served as the former Chief Health Officer of IBM Watson Health, where he was the senior physician executive leader of hundreds of clinicians and scientists on staff. At IBM, he had global responsibilities for transforming health through data, analytics, and AI for providers, payors, governments, and life science companies. Prior to joining IBM, Dr. Rhee was Chief Public Health Officer at HRSA. He served on and led national initiatives related to prevention, quality, and public health.
Dr. Rhee also served as Director of the Office of Innovation and Program Coordination at the NIH where he served on and led initiatives related to eliminating health disparities and promoting health equity. Prior to that, he worked in community health settings as the CMO of Baltimore Medical System Inc., the largest network of Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maryland. In addition, Dr. Rhee served five years as a National Health Service Corps Scholar and Medical Director at Upper Cardozo Health Center, the largest community health center in Washington, DC.
Dr. Rhee was a Chief Resident in internal medicine & pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He obtained his MD from the University of Southern California, his master’s degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (concentration in Health Care Policy) and his Bachelor’s in Science degree from Yale University in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry.
