HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson and Eric Redman—an author, businessman, and former Congressional staffer whose instrumental role in helping to establish the NHSC is captured in his nonfiction book The Dance of Legislation—will give keynote speeches, and attendees will also view a commemorative film sharing firsthand reminiscences from Corps alumni and ambassadors from the Bureau of Health Workforce. Senator Dick Durbin
Dick Durbin is the senior U.S. Senator from Illinois. Durbin has worked tirelessly to help address healthcare disparities and workforce shortages through his unwavering support of the National Health Service Corps. ACU’s 2021 Congressional Champion Award Winner, Durbin has exemplified the spirit of bipartisan leadership necessary to help make the Corps and other vital programs a reality.
Carole Johnson
Carole Johnson is the Administrator of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration. A national public health leader, Johnson previously served as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, where she oversaw significant expansions of Medicaid coverage and benefits for New Jerseyans, and as Domestic Policy Council Public Health Lead in the Obama Administration, where she played pivotal roles in Ebola and Zika responses and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
Eric Redman
A Seattle-based writer, lawyer, and climate activist, Eric Redman is a former Congressional staffer whose work to help establish the National Health Service Corps is captured in his best-selling nonfiction book The Dance of Legislation. He is a nationally recognized writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and other publications.
