Office Hours: Overcoming Challenges to Practicing Optometry in FQHCs: A Networking and Troubleshooting Event

December 12, 2025 | 12:30 pm 1:30 pm

Practicing optometry in a federally qualified health center (FQHC) can offer a rewarding, but sometimes challenging career path as providers navigate operational and systemic obstacles, such as complex patient needs, tricky billing processes, internal and external referral processes, staffing and workforce issues, resource limitations, and more.

Join the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) and the Vision Services Committee on December 12th at 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET for an interactive office hours session to get personalized, actionable advice on issues you are facing.  Bring your questions about billing, improving referral networks, expanding services, different care modalities, high no-show rates, and more, and network with other FQHC optometrists facing similar issues.

This session will be led by Dr. Kristin White, who has established optometry departments in multiple states; lectured on creating eye clinics within community health centers through collaboration with the National Association of Community Health Centers, Prevent Blindness America, and ACU; and has consulted with health centers across the country on start-up and expansion of vision services.
