Call Congress for the NHSC: All Federal Funding for the Corps Expires This Month!
We need your help NOW to urge members of Congress to extend and increase National Health Service Corps (NHSC) funding in the next government funding package.
The NHSC faces two deadlines in March, jeopardizing the support that ensures access to care for nearly 18 million patients served by Corps clinicians! Discretionary spending, which accounts for about 30 percent of NHSC funding, expires on March 14. Mandatory funding, which represents 70 percent of NHSC funding, expires on March 31. Members of Congress are discussing a possible extension of discretionary funding at current levels through September 30.
Your message to Congress is simple and will take less than 30 seconds to read.
SCRIPT:
“Hi, I’m [NAME], a constituent from [CITY, ZIP], urging Representative/Senator [NAME] to extend and increase National Health Service Corps funding in the next government funding package.
Without Congressional action, all NHSC funding expires this month! This funding is critical for recruiting and retaining healthcare professionals in our state’s health centers and Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
Please support the highest possible funding levels for the NHSC to address workforce shortages and support communities in need.”
