With the passage of the full-year Continuing Resolution (CR), government funding is now secured through the remainder of FY25. While this CR extends necessary funding for health programs, the final amounts fail to meet the full scope of our community’s needs. The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) will receive $172.9 million from April 1-Sept. 30, 2025—an improvement over potential cuts but still far below the $950 million target. Additionally, Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Teaching Health Centers (THCs) will receive $2.13 billion and $87.7 million, respectively, for the same period. Notably, these amounts align with the December package but reflect a slight decrease from previous expectations.
Beyond direct funding, the CR also extends telehealth flexibilities through Sept. 30, 2025, preserving critical expansions in provider eligibility, site access, and Medicare telehealth coverage. While this funding package fell short of our initial advocacy goals, the fact that funding was at least preserved is a testament to the power of our community’s voices: thank you to everyone who joined our efforts to preserve the NHSC and support the healthcare workforce. Looking ahead, the focus now shifts to FY26 funding negotiations. ACU will continue advocating to ensure these programs receive the necessary resources to support healthcare access across communities. Now as before, we need your help to do that: please join our advocacy network to stay up to date and take action!
