Sandra Leal, PharmD, CDE, a past president of ACU, has been instrumental in gathering more than 18,000 signatures on an online petition urging that pharmacists be recognized as health care providers under the Social Security Act and, therefore be paid by Medicare for therapy management and patient consultation services. Recently, U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, MD, an ACU Founding Member, wrote a letter of support.
