Webinar Series: Part 2: Eyes on the Workforce: Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining a Thriving Eye Care Workforce at Community Health Centers

December 3 | 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

Access to vision and eye care remains one of the greatest unmet health needs in the United States. While community health centers are uniquely positioned to address inequitable access to these services, fewer than one-third of the approximately 1,400 nationwide provide any vision services, and in 2023, less than 3% of the 31.5 million patients accessed vision services. Unfortunately, many community health centers seeking to establish or expand eye clinics experience barriers recruiting eye care providers due to provider shortages and competition with other practice settings. Once hired, many early-career providers find themselves quickly thrust into a leadership role without the support they need to flourish. In this two-part webinar series, ACU will educate community health center leaders and optometrists about strategies to recruit and retain a thriving eye care workforce.

Dec. 3: 1-2 p.m. ET: Part 2 will educate optometrists on the skills and knowledge needed to set them up for success for becoming community health center leaders. In this panel discussion, attendees will hear from 3 directors of optometry about the key skills and competencies needed to grow an eye clinic and considerations for growing and retaining a team.

This webinar series was made possible by the generous support of Centene.
