Webinar: Addressing Disparities in Accessing Vision Services at FQHCs: Challenges and Opportunities for PCAs and HCCNs to Get Involved
February 9 | 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Based on HRSA estimates, approximately 36% of all patients should be expected to access vision services at health centers annually. Yet, despite vision’s vital importance to overall health and well-being, less than 3% of all FQHC patients are able to access eye and vision care each year, a shortfall of approximately 10.7 million people. When trying to establish these services, FQHCs face high start up costs, space limitations, workforce challenges, and more due to vision services not being mandated under Section 330 of the Public Health Act, limited coverage under Medicare, stated variances in Medicaid coverage, and eye care providers’ exclusion from the National Health Service Corps.
Join the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU), the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (Mass League), and the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers (OACHC) on Tuesday, February 9th at 1 PM ET for an in-depth discussion of the challenges health centers face as well as strategies PCAs, HCCNs, and health centers can take to address them.
Speakers
- Luke Ertle, Program Director, Association of Clinicians for the Underserved
- Jessica Saad-Esposito, Manager of Public Health Initiatives, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers
- Susan Lawson, Director of Oral Health Services and Vision Services, Ohio Association of Community Health Centers
