February is Low Vision Awareness Month, and ACU is honoring this observance by partnering with the Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare and the American Optometric Association Foundation to provide small grants of $5,000-$10,000 to federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) to assist with start-up costs for eye health and vision care programs.

Underserved populations continue to face barriers to accessing eye and vision care due to cost, transportation, and limited access to services. FQHCs are well positioned to address these barriers due to their commitment to reaching people in medically underserved communities and in health professional shortage areas. By integrating eye health and vision care into multidisciplinary health care settings, we aim to better address the impact of poor health and disease on vision and improve quality of life.
