The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) team is growing! ACU is hiring a Project Coordinator & Specialist. We are a fast-growing organization filled with mission-driven people committed to improving the health of America’s underserved populations and supporting the clinicians serving these populations. We’re looking for someone equally committed to that cause who can help support ACU’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Empowerment Initiative. The Project Coordinator & Specialist will assist in developing and implementing educational products to prepare NHSC participants who are working towards their clinical degrees and those who have begun clinical practice. These products are intended to strengthen overall resourcefulness and well-being of NHSC participants while providing practical tools to help NHSC participants understand their community’s health care delivery system, social needs, and strengths.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in time management, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills. The candidate will have experience in meeting and training facilitation, adult learning principles and modalities, workforce matters such as clinician wellness and workforce development, and approaches to addressing health disparities and social determinants of health. The candidate will also have expertise in drafting communications including emails and newsletters.

The ACU offices are located in Washington, DC, but this position is available to anyone in the United States. Travel to the Washington, DC office will be required twice a year for the ACU Annual Conference (July/August) and an all-staff meeting (December).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in Developing and Updating Educational Products and Materials:

  • Assist in researching and identifying credible literature and resources to inform the development of educational materials for the delivery of high-quality multidisciplinary care for underserved populations, including addressing health disparities, engaging in community partnerships, supporting clinician well-being, and building organizational resilience.
  • Assist in the editing of documents and training aids using InDesign software for a variety of formats including, but not limited to infographics, executive summaries, guides, resource compendiums, and PowerPoint presentations.

Support the Implementation of the Initiative:

  • Build and maintain a communications listserv of NHSC program participants and NHSC-approved site staff.
  • Provide support for virtual events including speaker preparation, webinar logistics, moderating, presenting, attendance tracking, and collection of evaluation data.
  • Support NHSC networking activities at ACU’s annual conference.
  • Update website content regarding virtual trainings and new publications, and track utilization of online tools and resources.
  • Assist with other projects as needed to support successful implementation and growth of the Initiative.

Qualifications for Position:

  • BS degree preferred – experience may be substituted for a degree
  • At least 2 years of experience providing support for virtual and online trainings
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique issues in delivering health care to underserved populations and strategies to support clinician wellness (preferred)
  • Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with G-Suite programs
  • Proficiency with InDesign
  • Proficiency with WordPress
  • Strong attention to detail needed for editing publications
  • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed
  • Creative problem-solving skills

Pay: Annual salary range $57,500 – $63,500

This position is funded by a subcontract through August 2026. Continuation beyond that time period is contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance. While there is no guarantee of ongoing employment beyond this period, we are committed to the professional development of our staff and will actively seek additional funding opportunities.
