Webinar: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Public Health Seattle-King County

In the session, Public Health Seattle-King County representatives will talk about their agency’s journey towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. Discussion will include how they got started with this work, policies and practices that were implemented, lessons learned, and strategies to support success in building a fully representative and inclusive workforce.

Topics covered include awareness and appreciation of difference in terms of diversity, skill development for work across cultural lines and understand privilege as elements of cultural competency, and key components of social justice and equity, such as examining systems and history impacting individuals and becoming a steward of your best institutional values. The importance of community engagement in achieving greater equity is also discussed, including in the context of human resources processes in hiring, recruitment, and retention. The webinar also touches on the impact of COVID-19.
