Douglas Olson, MD

Dr. Douglas Olson is Chief Medical Officer of Medicaid and CHIP at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within the Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to this position, he was Vice President of Clinical Affairs at Fair Haven Community Health Care in New Haven, Connecticut. he practices primary care internal medicine and addiction medicine, and is board certified in both. Prior to his time at Fair Haven, he held clinical leadership positions in other underserved settings. He began his career as a National Health Service Corps scholarship recipient.

A graduate of George Washington University in Washington, DC for both his undergraduate and medical degrees, he did his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Yale.

Dr. Olson is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Society of Addiction Medicine. He serves as a Mentor for the Providers’ Clinical Support System for Medication Assisted Treatment. He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.
