The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) is adding to its team! ACU is a fast-growing organization filled with mission-driven people committed to improving the health of America’s underserved populations and supporting the clinicians serving these populations. We’re looking for someone equally committed to that cause who can help grow ACU’s workforce development activities as part of our team. The ideal candidate should know how to develop training content using multiple platforms and create content that can be used for both in-person and virtual training. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in time management, and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. Experience with clinician workforce recruitment and retention, along with experience with underserved communities is strongly preferred. The ACU offices are located in Washington, D.C., but location of staff is flexible and includes the opportunity for remote work.

Training Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver web-based and in-person training relating to recruiting and retaining the health center workforce through the Solutions, Training, and Assistance for Recruitment and Retention (STAR²) Center
  • Provide direct technical assistance to health centers, state, and national partners
  • Compose online courses for learning management system
  • Create supporting documents and training aids
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Coordinate or perform administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training
  • Some travel as needed
  • Other projects as necessary

Qualifications for the Training Specialist

  • BA or BS degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and delivering virtual and online training or teaching required
  • At least 2 years of experience with clinician recruitment and retention as well as pipeline development strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with G-Suite programs
  • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed
  • Creative problem-solving skills
