The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) is adding to its team! ACU is a fast-growing organization filled with mission-driven people committed to improving the health of America’s underserved populations and supporting the clinicians serving these populations. We’re looking for someone equally committed to that cause who can help support ACU’s National Health Center Workforce Training and Technical Assistance Institute.

The Associate Director will lead the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement activities, training events and educational materials relating to the creation and facilitation of a National Health Workforce Training & Technical Assistance Institute. The Institute will serve as a central hub for all stakeholder engagement activities to ensure integration and coordination throughout the Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Institute will work to improve communication and outreach, stakeholder engagement, amplify impact and enhance workforce recruitment and retention at community-based training sites, especially in areas of workforce experiencing shortages.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in time management, and possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills. The ideal candidate has expertise in stakeholder engagement, meeting facilitation and workforce matters such as health professions education and training (HP-ET) and recruitment and retention in rural and underserved areas. The ACU offices are located in Washington, DC.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a stakeholder engagement and communication plan.
• Lead the planning and execution of multiple stakeholder engagement activities throughout the grant period.
• Lead the development of a technical assistance plan on workforce recruitment activities for the HP-ET initiative at community based training sites in rural and underserved areas.
• Lead in the creation of the advisory committee of subject matter experts in workforce development and strategic planning for community based training sites in rural and underserved areas.
• Plan and execute annual regional workforce workshops
• Lead the planning and execution of annual in-person stakeholder engagement meetings including agenda setting and coordination of applicable subject matter experts
• Lead the team in the creation of a website to collect all related project resources
• Serve as lead for all activities relating to the health workforce training and technical assistance institute.

Implementation of Tools and Tactics

• Serve as liaison to Abt Associates in managing activities of the contract
• Represent ACU on project calls with major stakeholders, including the development of materials and participation in decision-making
• Create and update project management materials of key activities and milestones
• Collaborate with Abt Associates in developing monthly and annual reports for funders outlining project accomplishments and challenges

Supervision

• Oversee the work of the Training Specialist (TS)
• Meet with the TS regularly to provide expectations of work, help prioritize activities, assess quality of work, and ensure deadlines are met
• Ensure that TS understands and follows ACU policies
• Manage requests for time off and credit card purchases
• Conduct annual performance annual review with TS, including development of professional development plan

Qualifications for Position

• BA or BS degree preferred – Experience may be substituted for a degree
• At least 2 years of experience providing support for virtual and online trainings
• Familiarity with supporting the health professions pathway and a variety of health professions education and training (HP-ET) programs and recruitment and retention in underserved areas
• Familiarity with federal, national and state stakeholders involved with HP-ET programs
• At least 4 years of experience designing educational materials for adult learners
• At least 4 years of years of experience in providing trainings and facilitating stakeholder engagement meetings
• At least 2 years of experience in working with federally qualified health centers preferred
• Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with G-Suite programs
• Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Self-directed
• Creative problem-solving skills

• At least one in-person staff meeting in December of each year
• Annual ACU Conference each summer (location changes each year)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Annual salary range $70,000 – $79,000
